Chloride, Arizona

We decided to take a drive the Tuesday we were in Vegas. Erik wanted to go to a ghost town. We decided to go to Chloride, AZ. It was the longest drive there, but it was worth it. It is the only mining town still "alive." There are people that live there, but the houses are really old. The top three pictures are of the town from a distance. This is an old jail that was in Chloride. The pictures below are of inside the jail.

Kyle Busch

Me with my Kyle shirt on. I was so excited for the race, I didn't sleep well for 2 nights before. I was nervous about being around so many people, but I was also VERY excited. I now have NASCAR fever. Can't wait to go to another race.
What a beautiful car!!
Just leaving his pit stall.
Kyle coming out of the pits.
Kyle's crew trying to work on the car, no hope for the 18, so sad!

Carl Edwards

Here is my super handsome hubby. He was very excited for the race. It's the first race he has been to and he has been a NASCAR fan for 20+ year. I just love the grin on his face. Love you babe!
Carl leading with not many laps left. He is in the middle of turns 1 and 2.
Proud Carl Edwards fan. He was so mad because he wanted to bet on him when we arrived in Vegas on Saturday night.

Getting the checkered flag after winning the race.

NASCAR

This post is super long with tons of pictures. Erik and I decided in February 2010 to head to Vegas for the 2011 Kobalt Tools 400 NASCAR race. After a year of planning, we finally made it. It was SO much fun. It's the best thing ever (besides marrying Erik). Enjoy!
Welcome to Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Kobalt Tools 400, March 6, 2011.
Coming into pits.
There are so many seats. I have never been in such a big place. It seats 100,000+.
The pace car from last year's race. The had a contest and gave it away. Tried to win it but better luck next time.
The blowers that clean off the track. They are acutally jet engines (really loud and powerful).
Starting positions, Carl Edwards was 3rd and Kyle Busch was 5th.
View of the infield and the Sunoco fuel sign. The lady that gave us a tour later on in the week told us these spots can be reserved for $10,000 for the weekend (if I am remembering right). WOW!
There were so many helicopter flying around all day. People actually paid to fly into the race (what an entrance). This is the medi-vac flying in.
Bringing the cars out to get ready to race.
Very busy pit road before the race.
Tony Stewart, who led 90% of the race.
Montoya and Truex, Jr. coming off pit road. See what AMAZING seats we had!!!
Erik and I after a fun day. Sunburns and all.
This is where the flag person stands. How awesome would that be?

Saturday Fun

Saturday was tons of fun. We took Erika to the airport and made a trip to Kennecott Copper Mine on the way home. It was very interesting.
